MUSIC ROUND UP SEPTEMBER
2005
12TH TRUCKERS FESTIVAL-INTERLAKEN - SWITZERLAND
|
On
the Saturday afternoon we had to take time out to attend
the "Meet and Greet", get together and over
a glass of champagne we met and talked to David and Howard
Bellamy, the latter accompanied by his young wife, David's
sons Jesse and Noah and Britain's beautiful Rachael Warwick.
That night in the big marquee Rachael opened the concert.
Beside a couple of slower numbers like Jolene and Knocking
on Heavens Door and the wonderful Travelling Soldier the
set was quite rocky and up-tempo giving Rachael the chance
to use the whole of the large stage to her advantage.
It was my first viewing of her and I was very impressed
with her professional show and vibrant appearance. The
crowd loved her and she even had the line dancers doing
their steps on the purpose made floor.

"Sensational” doesn’t do this justice. As if
the dreamy melody and gorgeous production weren’t enough,
she sings like a goddess. Rachael’s debut is a six-song
sampler featuring this single. By the sound of it, this Brit diva
belongs on a major label.

Country
meets soft rock idiom. “Anglo-Americana” is a good
name because that’s what Rachael represents. Quality vocals

Beautiful
Rachael Warwick is a bright star, through not pure country, her
voice, her performance and personality are quite a vision not
to be missed.

I
caught Rachael Warwick's stunning debut on the Friday afternoon.
Here was an act as good as any I’ve seen in Nashville and
Promoter Chris was quick to get up on stage at the end of her
performance to announce that he was booking Rachael there and
then for a star spot next year.

Rachael
Warwick has a voice that is as clear and fresh as a Hill Country
morning...a voice that is soulful and haunting as an evening on
the San Antonio Riverwalk. Combine that with a flair for creative
songwrting and you have the complete package of Rachael Warwick's
new cd "Maverick". The six song collection is highlighted
by "Mistake"...an emotional, honest song about love
and the agony of love lost. "Highway 109" is pure country
with a clever hook about two characters you will recognize.
Rachael Warwick and her music combines integrity and vision with
intelligence and independence. If you are wondering where the
"new" talent for the 21st Century is coming from look
no farther than Rachael Warwick. After all we need more "Mavericks"
and that is no "Mistake" Jim
Patrick (programme Director of KIKT-FM in Greenville, Texas)
"Rachael
is a true talent, the real deal and a breath of fresh air in this
format, I can see her accepting the Female Vocalist of the year
at the CMA or ACM's" Tom Clarke
- Hill at Saga Country
“MTV
should turn their cameras on Rachael Warwick! She’s got
it all… the looks, the voice, and well crafted songs that
will stand the test of time” Paul

"You've
never met anyone quite like Rachael Warwick, the stunning alt-country
Brit that recently splashed onto the Nashville scene. Rachael
is as charming and gorgeous as she is talented. She's got a good
head on her shoulders and she isn't afraid to be herself -- even
if it isn't what everyone else wants or expects. Now that's integrity."
Graham Griffiths – Associate
Arts Editor Out & About Nashville
“On
her new Maverick LP, British Singer/Songwriter Warwick draws on
pop and alt-country influences to create her own brand of rootsy
anglo-americana” Nashville
Scene
“Rachael
Warwick a striking UK pop country artist who rests somewhere between
Shania Twain and Casey Chambers and bears an uncanny resemblance
to Angelina Jolie” Nashville

"Mistake
is the stand out track, with an emotive and catchy chorus that
one can believe in. Highway 109 is clearly the most country and
for the die hard fan, the clever reference to Mary Ann and Wanda
from the controversial Dixie Chicks hit 'Goodbye Earl', gives
the saga a new lease of life. "Fresh sounding music and incredibly
pleasant vocal, each track different, appealing to a wide spectrum
of musical tastes. I played it for people who usually never listen
to country music, and they found it very enjoyable."
Marie Crichton, 'Cross Country'
show on thebridgewalsall
“Rachael
Warwick’s new album walks the line between nu and alternative
country with a tinge of pop thrown in for good measure. The production
is exemplary (thanks to Mark Moffatt) and the musicianship gives
the impression of a very tight band which lifts Rachael to great
heights. One could compare Rachael to many other artists but she
excels above this and comparisons would not do her or her work
justice. Rachael is her own person and deserves recognition for
this alone” Tony Bates 3WBC

“Rachael’s
song “Mistake”, is kicking butt at the station, I
have had to move it into heavy rotation because of all the requests.”
“Her music is as beautiful as her face….her voice
simply angelic, her roots are pure country as you can hear in
her lyrics. Rachael Warwick is making her mark in country music.
The response to Mistake from our female listeners has been overwhelming.
Many calling it honest, heartfelt and with a message they get
immediately, its now at #1 on my station chart " Michael

“Rachael
Warwick – The Uk’s next new hope, championed as Britain’s
best chance in the last ten years of making it big in the states
and she is going to be huge in the UK.
Her single “Mistake is out of the top drawer” Stuart
Cameron – Hotdisc UK (CMA International broadcaster of the
year).
“Mistake
– The next Womens anthem” Mark
Moffatt (5 times producer of the year Australia)
As
Rachael's first single "Mistake", floats through the
airwaves, one thought comes to mind: FREEDOM. This voice, this
celestial voice, has the emotional quality of flying in dreams.
As I close my eyes, I see a Southern, summer river quickly passing
below me as rachael hits every note with grace and ease. Now it's
up to the listeners to decide if the world wants to hear Rachael
Warwick. In the humble opinion of an old music editor, we most
certainly do. Jadyn M Stevens
“A diminutive figure emboldened with feisty energy, Rachael
bounds around on stage with infectious enthusiasm” The
Telegraph Group UK
I
was amazed of two things : Rachael's beauty and the quality of
the production/arrangements. Ok, all is not pure country music,
but it is music of high quality. Rachael's vocal is all her own.
Sensual, powerful and that allows her to be brilliant in pop/rock
and in
country. Both my favourite songs to play are "Mistake"
and "Highway 109" because first of all I host a country
show. But I will play the other songs too. Of course Rachael deserves
to be a star. Maybe in both worlds (pop and country). She owns
all the good ingredients.
If I can help her in playing her songs, it will be with a greeat
pleasure. I am a European CMA reporter Jacques
